Writer's blog 6.

I have started to write my first long script. This actually started because a friend of mine and our mutual friend decided to form a writer's club where we would meet weekly and discuss our writing. This has fallen by the wayside, unfortunately. However, it started to reignite my will to write. My friend is planning on being an author. I have read the first chapter of a book she is going to write and it is really good. I am looking forward to reading her first novel as a result. As for me, I don't write novels and so I started writing the first few scenes of my script which I hope will become a movie. But first, here is my timetable.

Between now and the end of August this year, I hope to finish my treatment. That is screenwriter jargon for a summary of what the story is about. A treatment can be a few pages long. Once I have my treatment I can use it as a guideline to write my script. I normally write a three-page storyline before I write my shorter scripts so that I can refer to it and keep on track.

I will then continue to write my script and I hope to finish it in December. So what is my script about? I might have mentioned it before in my earlier blogs but in case I didn't it is about a young man who meets a team who have an ability to visit the astral plane. His sister is in a coma and he hopes to save her while battling the evil spirits to restore order. I like supernatural stories and this is actually my first one that I am writing since Battle of Wits.

I have a YouTube channel and I was thinking of reading out one of my scripts and filming it so that I can post it in my YouTube videos. I was originally just going to showcase my scripts in my website that I was going to build but I was a bit apprehensive as people may use my scripts as their own. I plan to add a  copyright to all of my scripts first.

Next week I plan to finish off my current shorter script and stick to the order mentioned in my earlier blog, Writer's blog 5. I will then finish off the Timespy prequel series and then start writing the Battle of Wits spin off series. I have a series of longer scripts in the pipeline but I'll wait to see how my first one goes and if it will ever make it to the big screen. If not then I could present it as a graphic novel, only for it to be adapted to the big screen anyway.

Finally, an update on myself. I finally got a managerial role. It is a secondment but it's a start. I currently work in Performance and Service Improvement for a Local Government Authority. The job allows me to work with data, carry out data cleansing, analyse data and measure performances. I normally liaise with the Social Care teams.

In my next blogs, I will post some reviews. First one will be about a book I read and really enjoyed. You know my fondness for thrillers. Until then, goodbye.
